Tarot: The Moon

The Moon loves me. It loves us all. It connects us. The Moon is dreams, love, shadows, the unknown. The depth of the soul: the subconscious. Reflections (the moon reflects the light of the Sun). Jung: “One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness visible.”1

The moon appears large and hard. We can’t understand what it’s thinking. Its surface is almost reflective. Slugs are much more like humans than humans are like the moon. Perhaps it would not even be right to say that it is thinking, since thinking is something that humans do. Whatever the moon does, it is so far beyond our comprehension that it appears to be almost nothing—just a part of nature. It doens’t react to us.
