Tarot: IX of Swords

The subconscious is connected to the divine. Dreams to reality. He has just woken up; the motion is out of the divine and into the world. Swords—air—logos. There is a double meaning, since on the one hand, this motion—upwards—is desirable, since it is the flow of the divine into wakefulness; but, having arrived here, he is immediately trapped by it and it causes him to misunderstand reality itself—dreams—as something foreign to him, so-called nightmares.

That vague yet characteristic feeling of an urgent nothingness that precedes meaningful change. This is one of my cards. I see it frequently, especially on the bottom of the deck.

This card illustrates a prerequisite for effective prayer in one’s emotional state.
