Initiation into hypnagogia
An esoteric initiation into the mystery cult of apophatic reality by way of dream-phenomena:
- Lie down, close your eyes, and pay attention to the breath; the air is a substantial thing that is moving air in and out of your human’s body.
- Wait for the waves to appear. Listen for voices or almost-sounds, or thoughts that are not quite distinct thoughts.
- Look at the reflection of reality in the mirror image. Know by way of direct observation.
Nothing of what really exists can be written down. What you are reading right now is neither true nor false. So look at where it’s pointing instead. Stare at the sun until your vision goes dark. Let your soul fall asleep so that the mind can untangle itself and peer into the the divine reality on the other side of dreaming. Pay attention to the images.
The soul has a rhythm in the world, which can be seen in the waves that appear near the onset of dreams. The waves come from the ocean that underlies all of reality and whereof all living things are born. Ideas are living things. When reality itself is reflected in the individual soul, there appears rhythmic perturbations on the surface of the soul’s mirror, such as in the form of pulsating images or interwoven abstract sensations.
The gods are found in silence. Everything that is visible is an image of something that really exists outside this world. Look at the things and follow them beyond their images. There is exactly one thing, and since it is infinite, the one thing is also every thing. Therefore, everything is in everything else; reality itself is symmetric, and each level contains all other levels.
It is possible to know what is real as a matter of sensory experience, rather than through reasoning. In this way, even unknowable things can be known. It requires dissociating the self and allowing the mind to permeate the soft boundaries that ordinarily separate different aspects of the whole. Reality unmediated by language is recognizable by its appearance, to the merely rational part of the soul, as vague or undefined or abstract.
